Cucumis sativus
30 seeds
Maturity: 55 days
Originally brought over from Perm, Russia by German-Russian immigrants in the 1870's, this is a classic cucumber every pickling enthusiasts should grow. Vining plants benefit from trellising and produce fat, stout 3-6" green fruit. This strain has been our most reliable cucumber in Alaska but needs to be grown under a hoop or green house to reach maturity. Can be started indoors a couple weeks before last frost to extend the season and ensure a bountiful harvest.
Cucumbers need to be hand pollinated if grown without insects present such as inside a hoop house or greenhouse.
