Barnacle Foods was founded Matt and Lia, both born and raised in Juneau, Alaska right down the fjord from Foundroot. All their products are lovingly made in Juneau by their small team. Their ingredients are hand-harvested, non-gmo, mostly certified organic, and so darn good.
Bullwhip is the local name for Barnacle Food's favorite type of kelp — bull kelp. Abundant in Alaska, kelp packs unmatched savory flavor and amazing nutrition — vitamins, minerals, it has it all. This hot sauce is flavor first, heat second. A deep savory flavor from the kelp paired with heat from Piri Piri pepper will ignite your taste buds and leave your mouth warm.
Note: the hot sauce is thicker than we had been used to and thus, there is no stopper on the top to pour slowly. Did this help Leah drink it by the bottle when she was pregnant? Probably. We love to serve it on our Tortilla Española in the Foundroot Shop. Not too spicy, a little sour, a longstanding fan favorite.
