Golden Detroit is an exceptionally beautiful root crop and a long-time favorite amongst seasoned gardeners. Round elongated roots have vibrant orange-red skin and are a bright golden yellow on the inside with a sweet mild flavor, less earthy than red beets. Light green leaves with golden veins are delicious young in salads or as a cooking green once mature. Does not bleed like red beets and maintains flavor and color when cooked. Stores well for winter. Add a pinch of turmeric to maintain color when canning.
