Out of the Woods of Oregon has been a family owned and operated business since it started in 1994 by Steve and Erika Gray. They source fall-down (short or narrow boards) American hardwoods that local furniture makers cannot use and turn them into handsome useful gourmet kitchen goods.
The bow bread knife originated in the Appalachians and dates back to the 19th century. This is the best knife for slicing all kinds of bread, even the extra crusty homemade ones... perhaps even straight from the oven. The carbon steel blade is double-ground, serrated, and very thin, the same kind used in industrial bread-slicing machines. The handles are carved from Oregon Red Alder.
