Originally from Siberia and brought to Canada by Russian traders in 1885, Red Russian is one of the hardiest of all kales. Beautiful purple-veined blue-green leaves are not only tender but are also hardy to -10°F. Use baby leaves for salad mix; we put it in our Mesclun. Our favorite for the freezer, Red Russian has soft leaves with hard stems, making it easy to process in bulk.
