Alaska Coastal Seaweed is a small, family-run business owned by Theresa Abbas in Juneau, Alaska. She started the business as a means to provide healthy, local, sustainable foods and be on the water with her family living our Alaska life.
This seaweed is sustainably wild harvested in Southeast Alaska. Each piece is inspected and hand picked at the height of Alaska's short growing season. It is then air dried and roasted at low heat to retain flavor, nutrients and color. Seaweed is a delicious and healthy traditional food in our region that we are grateful to have a source for.
- Seaweed has vitamins A, B, C, D, E & K as well as niacin, folic acid and taurine. It’s natural level of vitamin C increases the bioavailability of iron.
- 30-50% of nori’s dry weight is protein and much of the rest of it is digestible fiber.
- You simply can’t find a more concentrated source of iodine! Missing in almost every other food, this essential mineral is vital in maintaining healthy thyroid function.
