Phaseolus vulgaris
50 seeds
Maturity: 60 days

A widely adapted variety, Provider is fast maturing, stress tolerant, and reliably prolific even damp, cool seasons. The 18” bush-habit plant produces clusters of 5.5” green pods filled with tender white seeds. Harvest young for tender beans great for fresh eating, freezing, or pickling. Provider is rigorous enough for cold climates but may need extra care to reach full maturity.

FROM THE FARMERS

Beans can be hit or miss in Alaska depending on where you live. In Southeast, we have had success growing them outside in a warm, drier summer. We keep them under row cover for as long as the plants will allow but in Southcentral, we had to grow them in a hoop house to get them to produce. Provider Beans may not tolerate the colder temperatures in other regions and we recommend growing them under greenhouse plastic. All beans are susceptible to mold during our wet fall days or early frosts.

Legumes need to be inoculated to fix nitrogen and have viable yields. If you haven't inoculated your seeds before and/or haven't grown legumes in the soil you'll be growing them in this year, we recommend you use this product
