Raphanus sativus

This elegant French heirloom was listed by James J. H. Gregory in 1875 and named for the French practice of dipping radishes in melted butter for breakfast. The oblong scarlet roots have a white tip and a milder flavor than our other varieties. These can become pithy when large so harvest at 2-3" long for best quality. Pickle well and look stunning. The radish for people who think they don't like radishes.
