Latuca sativa

Bred by Clemson College in 1951, Parris Island was named after the island off of South Carolina. Dark grey-green slightly savoyed leaves form uniform upright heads with pale-green to cream inner leaves. Heads are slow to bolt and have the refreshing crunch that romaine lettuce is known for. This heirloom has a more open habit than what you would usually find at the store so we harvest it a bit smaller. Great for home gardens.
