Helianthus annuus
30 Seeds
Maturity: 80 days from transplant

First offered stateside in the 1880’s, this Russian heirloom is still prized for its gigantic flowers full of classic grey-striped seed. Mammoth Sunflowers can be slow to mature in northern climates but when nurtured, grow to an impressive 10′ tall with heavy hanging heads averaging 16″ in diameter. Edible seeds can be roasted for a tasty nutritious snack. Harvest and hang flower heads upside down to dry mature seeds if season doesn’t allow drying on the stalk. Stake growing plants to avoid accidental beheadings. An absolutely massive sunflower that requires starting indoors and a longer season to reach full maturity.

Flower seeds tend to have lower germination rates than vegetable seeds, please plan accordingly.
