Indeterminate

Kent Whealy of the Seed Savers Exchange brought this rugged early tomato to us from a Czechoslovakian tomato breeder in 1976. The 4’ tall semi- indeterminate potato-leaf plants yield clusters of 2” diameter bright red fruit when other varieties are just beginning to flower. Often eaten as a fresh slicer, Stupice has a bright tangy flavor that also holds well in soups and preserves. We found it to be particularly sweet and one of the tastiest of our tomatoes that had to ripen indoors after the frost hit.

Tomatoes are a challenging crop in the north and require warmth and extra care to reach maturity.
