Opinel has set the gold standard for high quality knives since the family company designed their first folding knife in 1892. All of their knives are still manufactured in the heart of the Alps in their factory in Chambéry, France.

This multi-purpose tool has become a necessity at Foundroot in the field and out with our Alaskan lifestyle. We use it all day, everyday during the farm season and countless moments in between. We love it so much we even gave it as a thank you for the friends and family that helped us during our wedding... there was some harvest involved.

By far Opinel's most sought after knife, the N°8 has become the classic everything knife for farmers, gardeners, outdoorsmen, and adventurers around the world.

The 8.5 cm blade names this knife, being the perfect size for a wide variety of tasks. It is made with Sandvik stainless steel for its anti-corrosive properties thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge. The classic Opinel blade has adopted a Yatagan shape, inspired by a traditional Turkish saber with the toe up. The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient resharpening.

The knife easily opens and locks closed with Opinel's patented Vibrobloc Locking System for repeated use and safety as you go about your work and play. The lightweight varnished beechwood handle is strong and durable, made from sustainably managed French forests, and rounded to fit every hand.

Hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife in water, as this could warp the wooden handle. Dry the blade before closing.
