Renamed “Fairytale Cabbage” by one of our customers, Early Jersey was originally grown by Francis Brill of Jersey City, NJ in 1840. The conical shaped cabbage grows up to 15" long and is one of the earliest heirloom varieties available. Known for being particularly fresh and juicy. Enjoy fresh cabbage by mid-summer with these whimsical plants. Not for storage. A market favorite.

FROM THE FARMERS

Early Jersey is hands down the best tasting cabbage we grow. It's sweet and juicy, quick to mature, and the shape is beautiful to bring to market. This is not a storage variety and is meant for eating during the season. It will make too soft a sauerkraut on its own but we mix it 50/50 with a storage variety and it provides all the liquid you need with exceptional flavor to boot.
