Salvia officinalis
100 seeds
Maturity: 75 days from transplant
Potential perennial
A culinary necessity for flavoring many meat and cheese dishes, Sage is also used for its medicinal properties and enticing smoky fragrance. The smooth grey–green leaves have small mauve flowers and can grow 12-24” tall. If given proper care, Sage can be perennial in Zone 4 and above with some mulch. We have several plants survive the winter every year in 4b here in Haines but not reliably.
Pro tip: Soak your seeds for 6-12 hours in water with a drop of hydrogen peroxide in it. They will germinate much better.
