Grown by Farragut Farm in a remote, roadless bay about 25 miles north of Petersburg in Southeast Alaska. They are uncertified organic, caring for and improving the soil everyday. This is not your standard culinary garlic and has been meticulously bred by bulbils specifically for seed. Bulbil grown seed garlic is a long and laborious process that is significantly less likely to have soil borne disease. This seed is many years in the making and we are so proud to offer such an exceptional product from the best of Alaskan growers.
Bred from old time gardeners of German descent in Idaho, German Red is a classic Rocambole that can grow very large under good growing conditions and has less double cloves than most Rocamboles. It pulls easy, even in heavy soils, and is an excellent choice for either the home gardener or the commercial producer. German Red has 7 to 12 medium to large, easy to peel cloves per bulb. Flavor is full-bodied, strong and spicy, setting the standard for true garlic flavor. Already known for being well adapted for colder, northern climates, this strain is truly Alaskan.
Rocambole garlic is a type of hardneck and one of the most widely grown garlic families. It is known for having a deep, rich, complex flavor and is often the first choice of chefs.
