Brassica napus

Originally from Siberia and brought to Canada by Russian traders in 1885, Red Russian is one of the most cold tolerant of all kales. Beautiful purple-veined blue-green leaves are not only tender but are also hardy to -10°F. Use baby leaves for salad mix for beautiful color and texture. Our favorite for the freezer, Red Russian has soft leaves with hard stems, making it easy to process in bulk.
