Spinacia oleracea
250 seeds
Maturity: 50 days
This quick growing heirloom spinach was introduced by the D. Landreth Seed Company in 1826 and is still the favorite today. Dark green savoyed leaves are slower to bolt and have a classic tender flavor. This strain comes up extra early for multiple seedings during a short growing season. Spinach does not like Alaska's long days and will readily bolt around solstice. Sow early and late in the season with a long gap around the longest days for a reliable harvest. We recommend substituting Orach during the mid-season gap.
