Maturity: 70 days from transplant
Farmer-direct seed from Adaptive Seeds in Sweet Home, Oregon.
Galina was brought back to the USA by renowned seed grower, breeder, and educator, Bill McDorman in a 1989 seed seeking mission in Siberia. A brave scientist shared these with Bill at great personal risk and northern gardeners have owed him a debt of gratitude ever since.
Galina is an indeterminate vining potato leaf variety known for being very early and prolific. Large clusters of 3/4-1" bright bold yellow cherry tomatoes feel almost neon in color and resist cracking, even in a wet season when everyone else is struggling. In fact, Galina seems to get even sweeter, with a balanced and complex flavor as the season turns. Galina keeps very well off the vine, lasting weeks, if not months after harvest on the counter and maintains its amazing flavor.
FROM THE FARMERS
The earliest ripening cherry we've found that doesn't wither in our cold August and September temperatures, even tolerating a very light frost or darn close. We fell in love with Galina during the endless rain of summer 2020 when the rest of our varieties were struggling to reach maturity and Galina and Ida Gold didn't seem to mind one bit. This variety seems to be taking hold but we have seen it come and go. Please save your seeds, this is a special one for northern gardens.
