Often referred to as “snow apples” or salad turnips in Alaska, these turnips are so sweet and juicy you’ll want to eat them raw right out of the ground. Milky white tender roots are egg-shaped and grow half above ground. Best harvested small at 2-4" for fresh eating. Although more often eaten fresh during the growing season, White Egg will store well but develop an intensified flavor with time. Keep under row covering until at least July to prevent root maggots. Turnips for people who think they don't like turnips.
