Golden Detroit is an exceptionally beautiful root crop and a long-time favorite amongst seasoned gardeners. Round elongated roots can be harvested small at 2" or full sized at 3-5" and have vibrant orange-red skin with bright golden yellow insides. Golden Detroit has a sweet mild flavor, less earthy than red beets. Light green leaves with golden veins reach 12-14" and are delicious young in salads or as a cooking green once mature. Does not bleed like red beets and maintains flavor and color when cooked. Stores well for winter. Add a pinch of turmeric to maintain color when canning.
