A tried and true heirloom broccoli named for Waltham, MA where it was bred by the University of Massachusetts around 1950, Waltham 29 has been the standard go-to open-pollinated broccoli for decades. The dwarf, compact plants produce a nice medium-sized 3-6" heads with lots of side shoots after the main harvest, producing for upwards of 4 weeks afterwards as long as you can keep up with picking. Bred to withstand increasing cold of fall and sweetens in cooler temperature Heads and shoots freeze well for winter storage.
