Cucumber: Cool Customer

Cool Customer was especially bred for organic growers by the late Dr. John Navazio.  This is an improved pickler with uniform yields of attractive, medium to dark green  4–5" blocky blunt-ended fruit. Vigorous vines produce over a long harvest window, not getting too big too fast. Cool Customer is crisp and refreshing with tender skin and the perfect shape for canning pickles.

Open-pollinated cucumbers needs to be hand pollinated if grown without insects present such as inside a hoop house or greenhouse.

FROM THE FARMERS

We did a massive cucumber trial in 2023, dedicating one row to new varieties and an entire row to our beloved Russian Pickling to grow out a seed crop. What we found was that the strain of Russian Pickling that we were growing had been completely muddied- and that was our only source. Realizing that this variety had been abandoned for a reason, we picked the best and brightest of our trial. Very excited to finally have a source for Cool Customer and have a reliable green pickler for all to enjoy. Plant early, keep them warm.
