Cucurbita pepo

Maturity: 60 days
Part of the original Three Sisters Guild, Yellow Crookneck dates back to pre-colonial Native American cultivars and has been refined by the commercial market since 1928. Bush habit plants grow 2’ high and only spread 3-4’ across, making Yellow Crookneck friendly for smaller home gardens or container planting. Harvest bulbous curved fruit small at 6” for a creamier texture and tender buttery flavor. This bright yellow summer squash is delicious on the grill, sautéed with fresh herbs, or preserved for winter stews. Hit or miss growing outside but will produce reliably under hoop or greenhouse cover.
Open-pollinated squash needs to be hand pollinated if grown without insects present such as inside a hoop house or greenhouse.
