Phaseolus vulgaris
50 seeds
Maturity: 60 days

Introduced to commercial markets in 1976, Royal Burgundy is a stunning and reliable addition to your bean crop. Straight 5-8" deep purple stringless pods with green interiors grow on 12-20" bush plants. Royal Burgundy is quick to pick with the purple pods standing out against green plants and looks exceptionally beautiful added to your other garden veggies. These lose their purple hue and turn bright green when cooked. Eat raw or fridge pickle to keep their color.

We have moved to growing our beans under hoop house cover because the yields are more reliable but simple covering on a raised bed will do. Beans can be borderline in the north but with a little protection, they are bountiful.

Legumes need to be inoculated to fix nitrogen and have viable yields. If you haven't inoculated your seeds before and/or haven't grown legumes in the soil you'll be growing them in this year, we recommend you use this product
